“Drop out of life with *bong in hand, follow the smoke to the riff-filled land!”
There was hardly another metal/doom/stoner album that influential on one side, and temporarily forgotten on the other side as Sleep’s Holy Mountain with the monumental-monolithic track Dopesmoker. Since the 63-minute track – an ode to smoking weed – was not really made for the radio, the band was kicked out by the major label London Records and they split up. Now we live in 2017 and Sleep are on the road again, since 2009 in the formation of Al Cisneros (OM), Matt Pike (High On Fire) and Jason Roeder (Neurosis). Sleep – comfortably lying on a meadow whilst a herd of bisons high on zolpidem runs you over! Wonderful! (*no worries, a joint works, too!).
